Tanker explosion rocks Lafia, leaves many injured
At the Sandaji Filling Station in Lafia, Nasarawa State, a petroleum truck burst on Monday, inflicting injuries on no less than six people.
At around 12 o’clock in the afternoon, the tanker that was transporting petroleum to the filling station on Jos Road in Lafia exploded.
According to Comfort Igwe, a pump attendant at the station, the explosion happened while the tanker was releasing its cargo.
She claimed that in order to put out the fire and bring the neighborhood back to normal, the personnel of the fire department had to work with the Red Cross Society, the police, and other security organizations.
According to the eye witness, the explosion also destroyed property worth millions of naira at the gas station.
She stated that some of the gas station’s employees and representatives of the Nasarawa State Fire Service were hurt and were being treated at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital in Lafia.
The command has not yet determined the origin of the epidemic, according to Mr. Ombugu Joshua, acting director of the Nasarawa State Fire Service.
