An auto crash at the Amanwozuzu crossroads in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State has killed eight individuals traveling home in a Sienna automobile for the New Year celebration.
The tragedy, which occurred at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, caused anguish in the community because the deceased were claimed to be members of one family.
According to eyewitnesses at the site, the father of the family, who was driving his wife and children in a Sienna, collided with a stationary truck carrying rods.
According to an eyewitness, it was a terrifying scene as the rods punctured the victims’ bodies, and all of them perished on the spot.
According to an eyewitness, police officers and indigenous peoples broke into the truck in tears to extract the family members’ lifeless bodies.
The dead have been put in a morgue by police officers from the Ikeduru Local Government Area Police Division at the time of reporting this report.
Lucky Ahiole, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Ikeduru LGA, informed reporters that the stationary truck was sitting on the roadside when the driver of the Sienna car crashed into it.
“It is horrifying. Eight died and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies.
“The rod pierced their eyes and bodies and even the children died.”
However, passersby have called on the Police to probe the owner or driver of the stationary truck carrying rods to know why he was blocking the road.
