Tension as boat carrying 100 passengers capsizes in Niger State

The report of a boat accident that happened in the state’s Borgu Local Government Area has been verified by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA.
This was revealed in a statement made in Minna on Monday by Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Arah, the agency’s director general.
He added that the boat departed from Dugga Mashaya in Dugga Ward and was traveling towards Wara Market in Kebbi State when the event occurred on Monday afternoon.
Baba-Arah reported that the boat was carrying commodities, cereals, and other valuables along with an estimated 100 passengers.
He claims that the number of fatalities and survivors has not yet been determined by NSEMA.
According to him, local government representatives, NSEMA desk officers, and divers are still conducting search and rescue operations.
