Three apprehended for stealing electric cable in Jigawa

Three suspected power cable vandals have been apprehended in Ringim Local Government Area by the Jigawa State Police Command.
DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrest in a statement to Platinum Times, identifying those arrested as Haruna Haruna, 29, and Amadu Nasiru, 33, both of Gujaba village in Ringim LGA.
According to the statement, on September 3 at around 1 p.m., a technical officer of the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Ringim Branch Office, reported to the Ringim Police Station that unknown persons had vandalized KEDCO service wires along the Ringim-Gidan Garke axis.
According to DSP Adam, a squad of police officers lead by the Divisional Police Officer sprung into action quickly and apprehended the offenders who were captured with the aluminum wire.
According to reports, the suspects stole the wires from the business of one Dahiru Isah of Tofa village, Gezawa LGA, Kano State.
Interrogated, Dahiru Isah allegedly revealed that he purchased the cables from one Kulu Danjummai of Gujaba village, who is now at large, and stored them in his shop until he noticed they were stolen.
According to a police spokesman, the investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to apprehend the main suspect, following which they will be arraigned in court.
