Tincan: NDLEA seized 876.453kg illicit drugs in 2023 – Commander
According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s Tincan Special Area Command, 876.453 kg of various illicit drugs and regulated substances were confiscated in 2023.
Mohammed Abubakar, Tincan Commander, made the announcement on Thursday in Lagos.
He described the intercepted substances as 24kg of cocaine, 852.45KG of cannabis, and 0.003KG of tramadol, for a total of 876.453KG.
According to Abubakar, 15 people were arrested and prosecuted over the time period, with 10 of them convicted.
He stated that the achievement was accomplished via unwavering efforts and rigorous investigation, which resulted in the destruction of multiple drug trafficking networks and the subsequent prosecution of those involved.
“The Tincan Special Area Command has been at the forefront of strategic operations in the area, targeting illicit drug smuggling activities and apprehending those responsible.
“In recent months, the efforts have culminated in multiple successful seizures and arrests, emphasising the agency’s commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes within our society,” he added.
