According to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Nyesom Wike, President Bola Tinubu has given him the go-ahead to build 30 kilometers of roads throughout the FCT’s six area councils.
When meeting with Mr. Philips Aduda, a former PDP senator who represented the FCT in the 9th Assembly, and Mr. Zakari Dobi, a former FCTA mandate secretary for transportation and a former Senate candidate, the minister revealed this to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday.
To relieve strain on the Federal Capital City (FCC) and bring development to rural towns across the six area councils, Wike proposed a proposal to build 30 kilometers of highways, with five roads in each of the six area councils to be completed before May 29, 2024.
He said:
“President Bola Tinubu had directed that at least five-kilometre roads must be constructed in each of the six area councils before May 29.
“This is part of his renewed hope agenda to ensure that people in rural communities were not left out in the development efforts of the current administration,” he said.
He promised to consult the visitors from time to time to tribute their quota in developing the city, adding that the FCT Administration would work with everybody that has something to offer, the minister hailed them for working as a team irrespective of political party differences to work for the development of the FCT.
Earlier, Aduda noted that the visit aimed to express gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a resident of the FCT as a minister to advocate for the development of the FCT in the interest of all its residents and to congratulate Wike on his appointment and the good work he was doing.
Aduda said:
“We are also here to commend you for the bold step in establishing the Civil Service Commission for FCT, removing FCT from TSA and establishment of. Women Affairs Secretariat to address women’s concerns.”
