Tragedy: LAUTECH final year students burnt in auto crash while returning from excursion

A deadly tragedy claimed the lives of 500 Level accounting students from Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State as they were returning from a trip to the Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when they were leaving the waterfall and heading back to Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo road, Osun State.

As of the time of reporting this report, the cause of the fire aboard the bus carrying the student remained unknown.

Lekan Fadeyi, the school’s public relations officer, acknowledged the disaster to the Nigerian Tribune but was unable to provide an exact number of lives lost because he has not yet received more details about the incident.

“I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed away, but I have not gotten the details of their identities,” the school representative stated.

Anuoluwa Adeboye, the institution president of students’ union, said in a phone conversation with this outlet that as part of their activities as final-year students, the students organized a trip to the Erin-Ijesa Waterfall following their first semester exam.
