(Tribunal verdict) Kaduna Governor’s seat is vacant – Isah Ashiru

Isah Ashiru, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State for the March 18 Governorship election, has stated that the state Governor’s seat is vacant.

Ashiru made the claim during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday.

The Kaduna State governorship election petitions tribunal dismissed Ashiru’s case against Governor Uba Sani on Thursday, stating it lacked merit, and declared the poll inconclusive, ordering fresh elections in seven wards across the state’s four local government areas.

However, the decision has sparked debate, with Sani and Ashiru both claiming that it was in their favor.

When asked who is the governor of Kaduna according to his interpretation, Ashiru responded, “For me, that seat is vacant, taking into consideration that the court has directed for the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return INEC issued to the governor.”

He stated that he would appeal the case to ensure that the people’s mandate is returned, stressing that they are law-abiding and will be patient as they pursue the return of his mandate to its natural conclusion.

He indicated that if they are successful in obtaining a seat at the Appeal Court, it is up to the opposing party to decide whether or not to seek the Supreme Court.
