Troops gun down two bandits, rescue five captives in Zamfara
In an aggressive clearance operation in Zamfara State, troops from the Joint Task Force, Operation Haderin Daji, Northwest (OPHD), neutralized two terrorists and rescued five kidnapped victims, including a toddler.
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesman for Operation Hadarin Daji, made the announcement to reporters in Gusau, the state capital, on Friday.
The military also carried out a coordinated clearance operation against terrorists’ dens on November 16 and 17 in the communities of Tugan Gama, Tugan Hausawa, Tugan Nabaru, Yarsabia, and Daji Yanayin Kari in the State’s Anka Local Government Area.
“During the operation, troops encountered and neutralised two armed terrorists while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries.
“Similarly, troops responded swiftly and timely to a distress call of armed bandits’ attack on Yarkoria community in Wuya District, Anka Local Government Area of the State.
“The troops’ superior firepower forced the terrorists to abandon the kidnapped victims and escape.
“Five victims, which include a child, two females and three males, were successfully rescued and reunited with their families,” the statement added.
