Troops raids, set illegal refinary on flames in Delta

An illegal refinery plant in the vicinity of Ogbokoko and Atu in the Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has been destroyed by Operation Delta Safe troops.

The change came as a result of military actions against oil theft in the South-South on August 23, 2023.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of army public relations, said in a statement on Thursday that during the operations, the troops destroyed eight operational ovens used to illegally refine stolen crude oil, 14 storage reservoirs holding an estimated 200,000 liters of stolen crude oil, and 90,000 liters of locally refined automotive gas oil.

“When the oil thieves saw the military moving forward, they left the area. According to the current instructions of Operation Delta Safe, the illegal refining plant was destroyed on the spot. The statement sai that an investigation is being conducted to apprehend the fugitive culprits.

According to the current Operation Delta Safe standards, the illicit refining site was destroyed on the spot, and investigations are still ongoing to apprehend the evading perpetrators. The Nigerian Army is inviting the people to inform security services of any suspected acts of sabotage or criminality.
