On KARETO Road in the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, a commuter van was ambushed by a roadside improvised explosive device.
The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) is thought to have planted the suspected IED for troops, which was then followed by a gun attack.
One passenger was murdered, and five others were injured in various degrees, while the commuter vehicle was damaged.
However, troops from 5 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai went to the location and cleared the area before returning the deceased and injured to Gubio Town.
