‘We’ll work with local security forces to combat criminality in Abia’ – Police

Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has instructed his troops to collaborate with community security organizations and other stakeholders in information collection in order to continue the fight against criminal elements in the state.
This, he claimed, will aid in the fight against crime in sections of Abia State.
The Commissioner of Police issued the advice in Igbere, Bende LGA of the state, while receiving four patrol vehicles from Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the Abia State Police Command and the Igbere vigilante group.
Onwuemelie remarked that the presence of patrol vehicles has given the fight against criminals in that part of the state a significant boost.
He challenged police officers in the Ohafia, Isiukwuato, and Igbere area commands and divisions to launch onslaughts against bandits, stressing that no excuses for failing to carry out their responsibilities would be accepted from now on.
He praised Senator Kalu for helping the police combat insecurity and promised that the patrol vans will be put to good use.
Earlier in his remarks, Kalu called on Nigerians to avoid violence and foster patriotism.
He described how hoodlums destroyed electrical projects in some neighborhoods after he installed them.
Kalu pushed Nigerian youths to pursue their farming potential rather than engage in violence.
The security vehicles were delivered to the Ohafia and Isiukwuato area commands, the Igbere Police Division, and the Igbere Vigilante Group.
