Why Tinubu’s Ministerial list a big disappointment – Shehu Sani alleges

Former senator Shehu Sani called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pick of ministers “a big disappointment.”
In a recent interview with ARISE TV, the human rights activist criticized Nasir el-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, for being included on the list of ministers that was recently made public to the Senate.
On Thursday, President Tinubu sent 28 cabinet candidates to the Senate through his chief of staff and former House Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
On the Senate floor, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the names of ministerial nominees, including four former governors.
But in response to El-Rufai’s inclusion, Senator Shehu Sani stated that Tinubu did not think El-Rufai was competent and called him a “tragedy.”
“With the nominations that I have seen, the one representing Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, is a tragedy,” says Shehu Sani.
Sani questioned why such a man was given the chance to serve the nation given everything he had done and said while in office in the past.
He asserted that, even if President Tinubu had the greatest of intentions, now would not be the best moment to win over and placate former governors; rather, Nigerians should be placated and capable leadership should be brought in.
Senator Sani expressed unhappiness with the list, saying that over the previous eight years, Nigerians have suffered at the hands of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in power, and that the president should be aware that this is the ideal opportunity for him to demonstrate his qualifications and ability to guide Nigeria to greater heights.
