Yobe Assembly approves YITDA Bill

Yobe State House of Assembly has approved a measure to establish the Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA).

After adopting the report of its standing committee on information, the House enacted the bill into law.

Sadiq Yahaya Attajiri, head of the House Committee on Information, told reporters shortly after the bill’s approval that the agency will work with the government to guarantee the state has an effective information technology system.

Attajiri further stated that the agency will allow the government to teach more young people in new computer skills and technology so that they may become self-sufficient.

The chairman of the committee also stated that the YITDA bill requires the agency to be led by a Director-General who must be of excellent character, have proven integrity, and have at least ten years of expertise in the information technology area.

According to him, the measure provides for a four-year term for the Director-General, Chairman, and board members, which will be renewed for a second term.

The legislator praised the members of the house for their efforts to the bill’s achievement at all levels.
