Zamfara: Appeal Court verdict, a temporary setback – Gov Dauda Lawal

Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, has termed the Appeal Court’s decision as a “temporary setback” for his administration.
On Thursday, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court declared the Zamfara State governorship election inconclusive, ordering a rerun in three local government areas: Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.
Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor’s spokesman, asserted on Friday that Governor Lawal was elected owing to unhappiness with the state’s current conditions.
According to the statement, the outcome of the March 18 governorship election accurately represented the people’s yearning for constructive development and advancement.
Governor Lawal remarked,
“The ruling by the Appeal Court is a temporary setback. However, I remain optimistic that the collective decision of the people will ultimately prevail,” the statement added.
“We will emerge victorious. Our unwavering determination and steadfast commitments leave no room for doubt or fear.”
“We faced numerous challenges on the road to victory in the last election. But let me assure our people that we are fully committed to going to great lengths to retain this widely acclaimed mandate.
“I want to call on the people of Zamfara State to remain calm. Our legal team is thoroughly reviewing the verdict. We will follow through with the necessary actions to achieve a just outcome.”
