10 killed, over 200 houses destroyed as flood ravage Katsina community

In Katsina State’s capital and Bindawa Local Government Area, where severe rain caused devastation by flooding nearby buildings and roads, atleast 10 people have been killed and more than 200 homes are destroyed.

Residents of the impacted districts of the Katsina metropolis claim that heavy rain began on Tuesday around 4 p.m. and continued until late that night.

The Katsina metropolis’s Ungwan Sabuwa neighborhood, which is located along the Kofar Kaura axis, is reportedly the most severely affected.
Residents were observed attempting to remove their things from buildings submerged by the flood when Vanguard visited the area yesterday.

Ten people have died in the disaster, including an infant whose body has not yet been located, according to Yunusa Rico, the area’s Mai Ungwa.

Because the water from the Kofar Kwaya and Kofar Kaura axis had nowhere to leave, according to Rico, the disaster was caused by inadequate drainage in the neighborhood.

Similar to this, Vanguard learned that the deluge in Bindawa council caused the destruction of no less than 200 homes.

Governor Dikko Radda claimed that only two people perished in the flood in a statement released by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Mohammed.

Governor Radda expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and said that action was already being taken to solve the situation and stop similar occurrences in the future.
