10th NASS: PDP group seeks Tinubu’s intervention for S’West to gets minority leader

Members-elect for the 10th House of Representatives running on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and ensure that the South West geopolitical region of the nation receives the position of minority leader of the House.

By saying they “wish to respectfully invite your Excellency to intervene on the issue of the zoning of the Minority Leader in the 10th Assembly which is due for inauguration on Tuesday 13th June, 2023,” the group claimed in a message over the weekend that the zone merited the position at this time.

You’ll be interested to know that the Rt. Hon. Leo Ogor and Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, both from the SouthSouth region of the country, held the office of Minority Leader in the eighth and ninth assemblies of the House of Representatives, respectively. This spans an aggregate of eight subsequent years.

“We would also want to bring your attention to an agreement reached by members-elect of the House of Representatives minority caucus that the role of Minority Leader should be given to the South for the upcoming Assembly.

We believe that the South West should be seriously examined for the position of Minority Leader in the 10th Assembly of the House of Representatives in the interests of fairness, equity, and justice. In addition to upholding the fundamental principles of inclusivity and fairness for which our Party is known, this will significantly improve member morale and contribute to the growth of our Party in the Zone and across the entire nation.

“We pledge our continued allegiance to the expansion, stability, and advancement of the Peoples Democratic Party to Your Excellency and the entire leadership. We greatly appreciate your help, and we trust that the Almighty God will continue to direct you as you carry out your duties.
