15 confirmed dead, 30 others injured as gunfire rocks Prague University, Czech Republic

A mass shooting in downtown Prague killed fifteen people and injured approximately 30 others, and the shooter was also killed, according to Czech police and the city’s rescue service on Thursday.
Police provided no information on the victims or the circumstances surrounding the shooting in the Czech Republic’s capital. Officers were called in after a shooting at a school in Jan Palach Square, they said.
According to Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda, the philosophy department of Charles University, which is located on the area, has been evacuated.
According to the police department, the square has been cordoned off. It warned residents to stay inside and avoid the nearby streets.
There was no additional assailant at the site, according to Czech Interior Minister Vit Rakusan, but he urged citizens to help with police.
The rescue service in Prague stated that 11 persons were killed, including the shooter. It was reported that approximately 30 others were injured, with nine of them suffering critical injuries.
Pavel Nedoma, the director of the Rudolfinum Gallery, which is also located in the area, informed Czech state television that he witnessed a person shooting from a gun toward the neighboring Manes bridge across the Vltava River from a window.
Prime Minister Petr Fiala postponed his planned events and was on his way to Prague.
