Gov Akeredolu signs bill establishing 33 LCDAs into law
The bill creating 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) has been signed into law by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Now that the state House of Assembly has approved the legislation, the LCDAs can be created with the required legal support.
Speaker of the House of Assembly Oladiji Olamide handed the measure to Akeredolu for his approval.
The establishment of the LCDAs, according to Richard Olatunde, the governor’s chief press secretary, who verified the news in a statement over the weekend, is an important step toward achieving the expectations of the populace for better grassroots development.
The establishment of the LCDAs, according to the state, will bring governance closer to the people and the governor has demonstrated an unrelenting commitment to strengthening public service delivery.
Governor Akeredolu is prepared to step up his efforts to advance the development of the Sunshine State and is still committed to delivering significant projects and creative initiatives.
Due to claims of marginalization made by some communities, the foundation of the LCDAs had already caused uprisings inside the state.
Additionally, some communities asserted that the state was transferring town and village lands to various local councils under the pretense of establishing LCDAs.
