China bullied Taiwan with 103 jets in 24 hours, Defense Ministry
Taiwan’s defense ministry announced on Monday that it has reported 103 Chinese military aircraft in its airspace in 24 hours, setting a new record for daily missions.
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, as of 6:00 a.m. on Monday (2200 GMT Sunday), 40 Chinese jets had crossed the Taiwan Strait’s median line and entered Taiwan’s south-western and south-eastern airspace.
Meanwhile, nine People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy ships were observed in Taiwan.
Taiwan, according to the ministry, has assigned combat air patrol aircraft, naval boats, and land-based missile systems to respond to these activities.
The ministry stated on Monday that the entrance of Chinese aircraft posed serious threats to regional security.
According to the ministry, all parties are responsible for maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and Beijing’s actions may exacerbate tensions and impair regional security.
“We urge Beijing authorities to accept responsibility and immediately cease such unilaterally destructive actions,” the ministry added.
Last week, Taipei detected dozens of Chinese military aircraft and a handful of boats near its beaches on a daily basis.
Taiwan has had its own government since 1949, but China considers the self-governing democracy to be part of its territory.
