Ibe Kachikwu indicted in criminal charges against Diezani Alison-Madueke

Former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu has been included in the criminal accusations brought against Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s minister of petroleum resources from 2010 to 2015, is accused of accepting bribes in the form of cash, luxury goods, private jet flights, and use of high-end houses in Britain in exchange for awarding oil contracts.

In the court documents obtained by TheCable, Kachikwu was identified alongside Aiteo CEO Benedict Peters and Haruna Momoh, a former managing director of pipelines and product marketing business (PPMC).

Olatimbo Bukola Ayinde and Doye Agama are two other Nigerians mentioned in the judicial procedure.

The court process states that Kachikwu was bribed in August 2015 “with the intent of influencing his capacity as a foreign public official.”

The act was also in violation of sections 6 and 11 of the Bribery Act of 2010.

On Monday, Alison-Madueke appeared in a Westminster magistrates’ court but did not enter a plea.

The district judge, Michael Snow, granted her bail in the amount of £70,000.

Snow, on the other hand, set further constraints on the former minister after determining her to be a “flight risk.”

The requirements include an 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, an electronic tag that must be worn at all times, and a £70,000 bond before she may leave the courthouse.

Meanwhile, the former minister is being probed in Nigeria for bribery and money laundering.

When she was a minister, Alison-Madueke allegedly stole $2.5 billion from Nigeria’s finances, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

She has disputed all of the claims made against her.

The EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, stated that the commission has secured an arrest warrant and has begun extradition processes against the former minister.
