BREAKING: Rivers Assembly signs impeachment notice on Fubara

On Monday, the impeachment notice against Governor Siminalaye Fubara was purportedly signed by the state Assembly, adding to the chaos already plaguing the Rivers State government.

The Governor’s supporters and the Leader of the House, Hon. Edison Ehie, were suspended during a session that was chaired by Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule and witnessed by a sizable number of members.

There were rumors that the explosion that took place on Sunday night in the Assembly was a ruse to prevent the members from entering the building on Monday.

Some MPs entered the House as early as 7 a.m. and signed the governor’s impeachment notification during the plenary session that followed.

In the meantime, armed police officers have blocked the entire Moscow Road that leads to the Rivers State House of Assembly.
