BREAKING: More than 50 decomposing, 20 headless bodies found around Abia livestock market
The Abia State Government has found numerous human skeletons, over 20 decapitated remains, and more than 50 decomposing dead bodies scattered throughout the Lokpanta Cattle Market in the state’s Umunneochi LGA.
This was revealed by the governor, Dr. Alex Otti, during his monthly media conference, “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” which took place on Monday at Government House in Umuahia.
He gave his word that his administration is determined to address the problem of insecurity head-on without caring whose ox gets gored.
Otti claimed that while some brothels were recently shut down and Umunneochi is now peaceful, the prostitution, drug trade, and other illegal vices around the Lokpanta Cattle Market required the raid.
The governor, who requested that the Lokpanta market be turned into a daily market with opening and closing hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., has now changed the market’s name to “general market” in order to accommodate portions reserved for cattle dealers and other enterprises.
He disclosed to the public that, in an attempt to guarantee sufficient security, his administration is likewise enclosing the market.
He claimed that the administration’s plan to establish a daily market was motivated by the legendary kidnapping and armed robbery in the Lokpanta area.
Even if the policy was misinterpreted, he claimed that during a discussion with the market’s leaders, everyone supported the government’s position that the market should be open every day for the benefit of all.
He further noted that,
“We are single-minded about rooting out insecurity in Abia State. Because we know that no government can succeed in the face of insecurity, violence, armed and kidnapping.”
The State chief executive said that gadgets would be deployed at strategic places to ensure the security of lives and property in the State. He added that his administration is poised to ensure Abians enjoy a great Christmas this year and maintained that.
“This government will not get involved in supporting insecurity. Our devices will be installed in strategic places.”
