Justin Ezeala to face Senate Committee over sales, purchase agreements of gas

The Senate Committee on Gas has called in Justin Ezeala, the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd., to provide information on gas sales, purchase agreements with gas companies, and non-compliance with due process in the NIPCO Gas Auto CNG Project.

Following a meeting of members of his committee behind closed doors on Wednesday, the panel headed by Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe issued the summons.

He conveyed the Committee’s dissatisfaction with the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, for allegedly refusing to allow National Assembly Committees to overnight NNPCL subsidiaries, blatantly violating the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

In addition, the Committee is requesting financial information regarding the Auto CNG Project with NiPCO, for which NGML has authorized a N30 billion investment.

The committee decided, among other things, to use pertinent constitutional measures to force the Managing Director of Nigerian Gas Marketing Company Ltd. to attend if he chooses to disobey the committee’s summons once more.
