KF Egnatia player Raphael Dwamena collapses, dies during live match
Raphael Dwamena, a KF Egnatia player, collapsed and died.
According to the UK Mirror, the 28-year-old died as a result of a catastrophic heart attack.
On Saturday, the former Ghanaian international slumped in the 23rd minute of a match against Partizani Tirana.
The game was called off while medical personnel attempted to resuscitate Dwamena.
He was eventually taken to the nearest hospital in Kavaja, but he died shortly after arriving from another heart attack.
When a cardiac defect was diagnosed in 2017, Dwamena became aware of an issue.
After collapsing during an Austrian Cup match in October 2021, he had an implanted cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) placed.
