Black Tuesday: Over 10 killed as truck rams into vehicles, tricycles in Aba
Ten people were killed Tuesday morning in Aba, Abia State, when a trailer carrying a 40-foot container drove into a commercial bus and a tricycle (Keke Napep) before collapsing on a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
According to reports, the tragedy occurred while the trailer was descending Ogbor Hill from the Opobo Junction axis when its brakes failed.
The driver, unable to manage the articulated vehicle, allegedly slammed into a commercial bus and a trike before failing to control the SUV.
Although the number of casualties had not been determined at the time of this report, pedestrians were alleged to have rushed to the scene to rescue persons trapped beneath the container.
Odum Okorie, who was claimed to be carrying five people in his Toyota Avalon, was alleged to have miraculously survived the crash with other occupants, although his car was destroyed beyond recognition.
