BREAKING: Appeal Court sacks Dauda Lawal as Zamfara Governor, declares election inconclusive

The Court of Appealn sitting  in Abuja has fired Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal on Thursday.

The March 18 Governorship election, which produced Lawal as the elected governor, was deemed inconclusive.

A three-judge panel of the Supreme Court unanimously overturned and set aside Lawal’s declaration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Justice Sybil Nwaka Gbagiz, who read the lead judgment, directed that new elections be held in the State’s Maradun Local Government Area and in other locations where elections were either cancelled or did not take place at all.

The Court ruled that using IREV information to announce Lawal as governor in the absence of polling unit results was illegal, unconstitutional, and unlawful.
