BREAKING: Appeal Court upholds Aliyu’s election as Sokoto Gov
The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld Ahmed Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as governor of Sokoto State.
After dismissing the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate Saidu Umar, a three-member panel of the court declared Aliyu as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.
According to Platinum Times, the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Jos, Sokoto State, upheld Aliyu’s APC victory in an earlier ruling.
The panel decided that the petitioners, the PDP and its candidate, had failed to establish their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The PDP and its candidate, Saidu Umar, had petitioned the tribunal, claiming that the APC and its nominee, Ahmad Aliyu, had won the March 18 governorship election in the state.
They took their quest for justice to the Appeal Court, where they were again defeated on Monday.
