Edo 2024: I’m being battered, but I wont fight back – Shaibu speaks on feud with Obaseki
On Monday, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, said that he is being beaten.
Shaibu stated this while emphasizing that he is not in a feud with the state Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Shaibu declared on TVC’s ‘Journalists Hangout’ that he would never fight back.
Shaibu was involved in an ugly altercation with Obaseki, which resulted in him being locked out of his office.
After being shut out of his office, Shaibu publicly apologized to Obaseki.
However, there are reports that Obaseki is still unhappy with his deputy.
In the midst of the animosity, Shaibu stated his ambition to run for governor in 2024.
He expressed hope that Obaseki and Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole will support him.
According to Shaibu:
“Adams Oshiomhole will support me because Edo people want their own, and I’m there own.
“I’m sure Obaseki will support me and my name and party, PDP will be on the ballot.
“I’m not fighting, I’m being beaten. I booked a hotel and paid, but a senior government official threatened to demolish the place. This is because I’m the candidate.
“I’m not going to fight because when I get the ticket, I need all of them to work, the state need a unifier.”
