Appeal court sacks Barade, Bauchi Deputy Speaker

Jamilu Umaru Dahiru Barade, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Deputy Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, has been sacked by the Court of Appeal situated in Abuja.
In its ruling on Monday, the three-member panel of justices overturned the Bauchi State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal’s earlier ruling, which had recognized Barade as the legitimately elected lawmaker for the Bauchi Central State Constituency.
As a result, the panel ordered new elections in a few polling places inside the constituency where Aliyu Abdullahi Ilela of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the appellant, claimed there had been excessive voting.
A repeat election in the impacted polling places was mandated by the court, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was required to get the Certificate of Return that had previously been granted to the Deputy Speaker.
According to Platinum Times, the ruling was rendered just a few days after Speaker of the House Abubakar Sulaiman was fired by the appellate court.
