President Bola Tinubu has directed that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs transfer the school feeding program to the Ministry of Education.
Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, announced the development on Thursday during a one-day retreat on ministerial deliverables (2023-2027) for all Directors and Chief Executive Officers of the ministry’s parastatals.
Prof. Tahir stated that as part of his agenda to address the country’s growing problem of out-of-school children, the president reintroduced the school feeding program in Nigeria basic education to address the country’s learning crisis and the challenges of out-of-school children.
According to Platinum Times, the initiative was halted by previous President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration after several years of operation.
