Plateau: Tinubu break silence as bandits kill 115, abduct scores, burn down communities

President Bola Tinubu has decried the attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas of Plateau State, where over 115 people were killed by bandits, on Tuesday.

According to Platinum Times, the gunmen raided the local councils on Christmas Eve, killing at least 115 residents and burning down 17 settlements.

Caleb Mutfwang, the state governor, acknowledged the number of victims and the extent of destruction in the attack in an interview on Tuesday, adding that scores of residents are still missing.

Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, issued a statement in response to the attack on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to the statement, Tinubu has asked security forces to step in immediately, scour every stretch of the zone, and catch the perpetrators.

The President also authorized the rapid mobilization of relief resources for the assaults’ surviving victims, as well as medical treatment for the injured.

While expressing his condolences to the government and people of Plateau, President Buhari told Nigerians that “the envoys of death, pain, and sorrow would not escape justice.”
