Federal Fire Service recruitment is on – Tips to apply

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) had earlier announced that it has opened its portal for suitably qualified candidates to be recruited to fill existing vacancies in different positions.

Recall that in a newspaper advertorial said applications must be submitted online within six (6) weeks as from Wednesday, 27 December, 2023.

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) added that there are two categories, inspectorate cadre and assistant cadre for interested and qualified applicants.

“Inspector Of Fire (IF) CONPASS 07 (Nursing): Applicants must be Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Midwives (RM), Registered Nurses/Midwives (RNIM) obtained from recognized institutions,” FFS stated.

“Assistant Inspector Of Fire (AIF), CONPASS 06: Applicants must be holders of NCE or National Diploma (ND) in any related field, obtained from any recognized Polytechnic/Institution.

“Fire Assistant II (FA II) CONPASS 04: Applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary level, SSCE/NECO or other equivalents with a maximum of five (5) credits in not more than two sittings, which should include English and Mathematics.

“Fire Assistant III (FAIII), Appliance Driver (Specialist), CONPASS 03: Applicants must be holders of GCE Ordinary level, SSCE/NECO or their equivalents with a minimum of five (5) credits in not more than two sittings which should include at least English and Mathematics. Applicants with Class E Drivers’ License is an added advantage.”

The applications will be done online via the portal https://cdcfib.career where applicants will fill and submit the application form.

Candidates have also been advised to print out the Referee Forms which must be duly completed for submission during the screening exercise.

According to FFS, candidates should note that multiple applications will automatically be disqualified.

As for the statutory requirements for the recruitment, applicants must be Nigerians by birth and must possess the requisite qualifications.

Any certificate or qualification not presented and accepted at the recruitment center shall not be accepted after the recruitment, FFS said.

Applicants must be fit and present certificates of medical fitness from Government recognized hospitals, they must be of good character and must not have been convicted of any criminal offences.

FFS said applicants must not be member of any secret society, cult or drug addict etc and must not have been involved in any financial embarrassment.

“Applicants must be between ages of 18 and 35 years with height of not less than 1.65m for male and 1.60m for female, the chest measurement must not be less than 0.87 for men while computer literacy will be of added advantage.”

Federal Fire Service Statutory Requirements:

  • First requirements have to do with your nationality. Only Nigerians should apply.
  • Possession of the right certificate is another factor to consider. We took out time below to explain certificates one should have for various positions.
  • Your health status also matters, a medical fitness certificate will be demanded from you.
  • A minimum of 18 and a maximum of 30 years of age falls under those who can apply.
  • Your heights must not be less than 1.65m for male and 1.60m for female and chest measurement of 0.87 for men.
  • Be free from debt and be of good behaviour.

Federal Fire Service Available Positions & Requirements

Federal fire service recruitment position are if different categories. These categories are based on your qualifications, certificates you are applying with.

CATEGORY A: SUPERINTENDENT Cadre.

  1. i) Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) [CONPASS 09] – all positions here are reserved for those with master degree or those that belongs to a recognized professional body
  2. ii) Assistant Superintendent of Fire II (ASF II) [CONPASS 08] – this are for fresh graduate with Bachelor’s Degree.

CATEGORY B: INSPECTORATE CADRE.

  1. i) Senior Inspector of Fire (SIF) [CONPASS 08 – this positions are for polytechnics graduates hence possessing of Higher National Diploma is the minimum requirement.
  2. ii) Inspector of Fire (IF) Nursing [CONHESS 06] – for Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwives (RM) or Registered Nurse/Midwives (RN/RM)
  3. iii) Assistant Inspector of Fire (AIF), General Duty, COMPASS 06 – this is the least requirement in category B, here are the requirements : National Diploma (ND), NCE or Advanced NABTEB.

CATEGORY C: ASSISTANT CADRE.

  1. i) Fire Assistant II (FA II) COMPASS 04 – GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO. If you have attended no university, polytechnic, college of education and have no credentials from higher citadel of learning then you can apply with your O level results. 5 credit pass obtained in not more than two sittings.
  2. ii) Fire Assistant III (FA III) COMPASS 03 – be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO and having just only 3 credit pass is sufficient for this position.

  3. If you want to apply for a higher position which are Categories A and Bi (Holders of Degree and HND certificates) then click on https://cdfipb.careers/registrations/new
  4. Make sure you fill the form well by entering your details accurately.
  5. Those that are applying for a lower position which are Categories B ii and C (ND, NCE, NATEB, SSCE, NECO or their equivalents) click here

  7. After filling your information online, go through and correct possible mistakes you might have made. Crosscheck everything.
  8. Submit your application and also print a reference form, fill that reference form you have printed and take it along during the screening exercise.
