UTME 2024: JAMB approves 747 CBT centres for registration
For the 2024 UTME operation, which is set to start on Monday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, has certified 747 Computer Based Test, CBT, Centers.
The Board announced this in an Abuja bulletin sent out by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Public Communication Advisor for PAC.
Only 747 of the 907 CBT centers that the Board had shortlisted for certification could be certified for the 2024 UTME after revalidation and integrity testing.
Candidates were visible in large numbers at the numerous CBT centers visited, according to a NAN reporter who saw registration at various centers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surroundings.
While some of the candidates who gave their own accounts claimed that the registration process went smoothly, others disagreed.
Chinaza Onuegbu, a candidate at the Future Gate CBT center in One-Man Village, voiced concern about his inability to register and claimed he was told, for no apparent reason, to register at another center.
Onuegbu clarified, however, that he returned after having another thought to ask why he wouldn’t be permitted to register and was advised to return on Tuesday with his JAMB profile code, which he still hasn’t received.
“I was at the Future Gate to register for my Direct Entry but was not allowed to register. I was told to go to another CBT centre if allowed.
“I moved to another centre within that vicinity but was told to return to the Future Gate to resolve any problem.
“Immediately I got back to Future Gate centre, I met someone who told me to bring my profile code, but I could not produce it because I didn’t understand what it meant.
“I was, however, asked to go home and get my profile code and bring it tomorrow so I can be registered.”
