2027: We are prepared to face you, Fubara’s supporter replies Wike
Evans Bipi, a former Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, stated Thursday that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s supporters are prepared for the 2027 general elections.
Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have been at odds recently. Wike, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, is the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister in the APC-led Federal Government. Following a peace agreement with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, the governor survived an impeachment attempt by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Wike spoke about his readiness for the 2027 elections during a thanksgiving service led by Senator Barinada Mpigi in Koroma, Tai Local Government Area, Rivers State. The former governor of Rivers State stated that he could not wait till 2027 because of the political alliance in his favour.
However, addressing during a demonstration organized by women from the 23 local government areas for the Governor in Port Harcourt, Bipi, who represented Fubara, stated that with the level of mobilization demonstrated by the women during the event, Governor Fubara will win convincingly in any election.
He urged women, particularly non-indigenes and members of pressure groups, to continue supporting Governor Fubara’s administration.
Bipi claimed that the oil-rich state had never had two leaders before, and that such an imposition could not be tolerated today.
The former lawmaker also warned citizens not to be duped by boastful claims that only one person purchased nomination forms for all governorship candidates in the state because the funds belong to the state.
He stated that the politician making the allegation did not have a life outside of politics, hence the money was part of the public fund in his possession.
The women marched approximately 6 kilometers from the CFC Junction on Aba Road to the Port Harcourt Polo Club in New G.R.A., where they congregated to express a collective demand for peace in the state and respect for the Governor’s office.
Professor Roseline Konya, a former Commissioner for Environment, read the communiqué.
