Daurawa returns as Hisbah boss after reconciliation with Gov Abba Yusuf
Following the outburst, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, reconciled.
Daurawa announced the reconciliation in a Facebook post on Monday night.
The Governor initiated the reconciliation meeting, which took place in the Kano State Government House.
The Hisbah Commander will return to his seat on Tuesday.
According to accounts, “Zauren Hadin Kan Malamai”—a group of distinguished Islamic clerics—was dispatched to Daurawa to placate him and allow him to resume his leadership role over Hisbah.
The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore, and the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja, Sheikh Ibrahim Maqari, were both sent by the government to meet him.
Recall Governor Yusuf chastised the board’s “operation kau da badala” policy, which aimed to eradicate immorality in the state.
Daurawa resigned less than 24 hours after the governor’s remarks, generating a wave of popular fury and condemnation.
The meeting on Monday was reportedly convened because the governor was upset about the situation.
