Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic was named Miss World on Saturday night at a lavish event hosted in India.
Pyszková defeated Lebanon’s Yasmina Zaytoun, who was the first runner-up to win the title out of 112 entrants in Mumbai, India’s financial and entertainment hub.
Unfortunately, Nigeria’s Ada Eme did not make it to the last eight.
“Beng being Miss World is a dream come true. “I am deeply honored to represent my country and the values of ‘beauty with a purpose’ on a global scale,” Pyszkova remarked.
Pyszková waved to the big crowd at the Jio World Convention Center and hugged some of the other contenders as Poland’s Karoline Bielawska delivered her the crown.
A large worldwide audience was treated to a magnificent tapestry of Indian culture, traditions, heritage, arts and crafts, and textiles. The participants wore elaborately embroidered skirts and blouses and danced to popular Bollywood songs.
The beauty pageant returned to India after a 28-year hiatus.
The 71st Miss World beauty pageant was hosted by Bollywood director Karan Johar and the Philippines’ Miss World 2013, Megan Young.
