Russian Mirra Andreeva 16′ reaches Wimbledon second week
The 16-year-old Russian prodigy Mirra Andreeva defeated fellow countrywoman and 22nd seed Anastasia Potapova on Sunday to advance to the fourth round at Wimbledon.
She was competing in her maiden senior grasscourt tournament.
Andreeva, who had to go through qualifying, was playing in her sixth match of the competition, but she appeared poised and in top form on Court Three as she defeated her seasoned 22-year-old opponent with some remarkable shots.
The girl, who is currently ranked 102 in the world, gained attention when she advanced to the third round of the French Open, her first Grand Slam, last month. Now, she has done even better.
