Ondo APC receives fresh PDP, SDP chieftains decampees
Some PDP supporters from Idanre Local Government Area of the State have been welcomed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
Members of the Social Democratic Party, or SDP, also defected to the ruling party in the same area.
The main driving force behind the defectors’ choice to join the APC was the underwhelming showing by their various former parties in the most recent general election.
They claim that their search for a new political platform was prompted by their discontent with the incapacity of their prior parties to successfully run their affairs.
Speaking on their behalf, Prof. John Jejelola said that the PDP and SDP party structures in Idanre had been disbanded and combined with the APC.
He claimed that the action will strengthen the state’s position for the ruling party while diminishing that of the opposition.
Jejelola stressed the significant role Adetimehin, a native of the local government and the APC state chairman, had in luring the defectors to the APC by highlighting his remarkable accomplishments.
The State Chairman of the APC, Adetimehin, who is also from Idanre Local Government, disclosed that the PDP chieftains that defected to his party were the ones who usually gave him and his party a difficult time during elections while welcoming the defectors to his party.
He predicted that the APC will have a field day in the local government elections as a result of their defection to his party.
