Why I choose to wear shirt number 24 at United – Andre Onana

Andre Onana has explained why he declined to take David de Gea’s number one jersey at Manchester United.
De Gea left the Premier League powerhouses this summer, opening up the number one jersey for his successor.
Onana chose the unique No. 24 jersey upon his arrival at Old Trafford from Inter Milan last week.
After completing a £47 million transfer to Old Trafford, Onana rose to the third-most expensive goalkeeper in the world.
And despite widespread expectations, the Cameroonian chose to stick with the No. 24 jersey, which he has previously worn for Ajax and Inter.
Onana has recently clarified that his shirt pick alludes to his birthday, which is April 2nd, or 2/4.
“I just like that number and it’s my birthday, my date of birth.
“So for me it’s great and I like this shirt. With this number we have done a lot and I hope this will continue,” he told MUTV.
