Ministerial list: El-Rufai, Wike, Edu, 25 others to be screened by Senate on Monday
According to the Senate, vetting of the 28 ministerial nominations put forth by President Bola Tinubu will begin on Monday.
Sen. Adeyemi Adaramodu (APC-Ekiti), the Senate’s press secretary, stated this to reporters on Thursday after the list of nominees was read in the upper chamber.
Adaramodu also stated that even though the Senate wasn’t allowed to meet on Mondays, “we’ve suspended all of our rules for them to begin the exercise next Monday.” This was done because of the significance linked to the national assignment.
He said, “The Senate is going to examine the character, personality, the experiences, the background of every nominee, and we believe at the end of it, Nigerians will not be disappointed.
“We expect that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) that will be constituted after the screening is going to be the one that will breathe oxygen into the comatose economy of Nigeria.
“The list is here, until they come forward with their resume, it’s not going to be a shadow screening that you’ve a very good resume, you don’t have the character to carry the resume.”
According to a report in Platinum Times Nigeria, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the list on Thursday during plenary after it had been given to the chamber by the executive branch.
The list was sent to Akpabio by the president’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
