Adamawa Govt imopses 24hrs curfew as Hoodlums storm warehouses, loot items
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the territory.
After hoodlums broke into two warehouses and stole goods on Sunday afternoon, the governor announced the move.
Before security personnel took control, some of the hoodlums had degenerated into attacking people in private shops.
According to a statement from Humwashi Wonosikou, the chief press secretary for Fintiri, the curfew was implemented as a result of “the dangerous dimension the activities of hoodlums had assumed across the state capital as they attacked people with matches and broke into business premises carting away property.”
The authorities made it clear that no one will be able to move throughout the state now that a curfew has been implemented.
It reads,
“Rt. Hon. Fintiri said only people on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of the curfew.”
The governor urged everyone to abide by the order and added that anyone found disobeying it will be detained and prosecuted.
Governor Fintiri post on his social media handles;
Effective immediately Sunday, July 30, 2023, I, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, have declared a 24-hour curfew in Adamawa State due to escalating violence by hoodlums attacking people and businesses. No movement is allowed, except for essential duties with valid ID. Your safety is our priority – please comply for the wellbeing of all.
