Gov Alex Otti picked LP form as an APC member – Witnesses tells Tribunal

Governor Alex Otti did not resign from the All Progressives Congress, APC, before running for governor on the Labour Party platform, according to two witnesses who testified before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Umuahia.
In his testimony as PW2 in the petition for the governorship election submitted by Chief Ikechi Emenike of the APC, Friday Ugorji stated that he is the chairman of ward 5 in the Isiala Ngwa South LGA and that Alex Otti is listed first on the ward’s APC party registration.
He claims that Alex Otti quit the APC without following the proper procedures and without submitting a resignation letter.
Engr Alozie Macsolomo, the party’s director of records, documentation, and mobilization, commented in a same manner.
He confirmed that Otti did not leave the APC as required by the Electoral Act and is PW3.
In his written deposition, which he had earlier embraced in the witness box, the witness pointed the tribunal to paragraph 10 and quoted it to the court.
Tochukwu Maduka, SAN, the petitioner’s primary attorney, has since concluded his client’s case.
The respondents might begin presenting their case after the tribunal reconvened on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
