APC chieftain seeks reversal of Wike’s Ministerial confirmation
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded that the confirmation of former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike as minister be overturned.
In a statement he personally signed on Wednesday, the former national publicity secretary of the now-defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) made the call.
He claims that Wike’s nomination by President Bola Tinubu for the position of minister and the Senate’s subsequent review and confirmation of his appointment “is an affront to decency, as the facts on him do not qualify him as a character that merits such an office.”
Eze expressed concern over the President’s claimed failure to take into account “reports and fact-filled opinions on the non-qualification of the former governor to hold public office in the country.”
He claimed that the former governor had been singled out for indictment in the European Union Election Observation Report for the 2023 election due to his involvement in the February and March elections.
“Such imposition at a time the country is struggling to redeem her electorally battered image and reclaim credibility within the international community is, to say the least, ridiculous,” he added.
