Abia YPP fires Chairman for accepting SSA position in LGA

Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, the chairman of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Abia State, has been suspended due to alleged anti-party activities. Mr. Uzodinma Nwoko has taken over as acting chairman and secretary till the party’s next congress.
Members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) announced in a communiqué that the party has suspended Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo, its previous chairman, for suspected anti-party activities prior to and during the general elections of 2023. The party is located at 75 Aba Road in Umuahia.
At the SWC meeting, Success Echefula moved and Nwakanma Dauglas seconded the resolution to suspend the party chairman and vote no confidence in him.
The YPP Chairman’s acceptance to work as Victor Ikeji’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Revenue Service Mobilization, the Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, was deemed inappropriate by the party.
The party stated that Uluocha Nelccin Chimezuo could no longer serve as the party chairman due to accepting the position of SSA, and claimed to have informed the national secretariat of the SWC’s decision.
It further stated that the YPP constitution’s Article 31 and Section 31.14 were broken by the suspended Chairman.
In addition, the YPP insisted that it never formed an alliance with the Labour Party and questioned why the suspended Chairman would not give up his position as SSA.
