Adelami confirmed as deputy governor by Ondo Assembly

On Thursday, the Ondo State House of Assembly screened and confirmed Olayide Adelami as Ondo State’s deputy governor.
The occurrence occurred 24 hours after the governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, appointed Adelami as the deputy governor-nominee and forwarded his name to the Assembly for screening and approval.
The nominee was confirmed by the Assembly following consideration of a report by the House selection committee presided over by the Speaker, Mr Olamide Oladij, during the plenary session.
Prior to the plenary, the House held a screening of the nominee in the Assembly facility.
During the plenary session, the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the letter provided to the House by Governor Aiyedatiwa for consideration of the nominees.
Following the report’s submission, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Abayomi Akinruntan, recommended that the nominee’s appointment be confirmed, stating that Adelami had been adequately screened.
Mr Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of the House, proposed the resolution to review the report and confirm the candidate, which was seconded by Felix Afe, representing Akoko North West 2 Constituency.
The Speaker, Oladiji, who ruled in favor of the confirmation, welcomed the Deputy Governor nominee, urged him to “put in his best,” and reaffirmed the House’s support for the executive so that the people might experience greater democratic dividends.
In his reaction, Adelami thanked Governor Aiyedatiwa for nominating him and promised not to betray the trust placed in him.
Details will be provided later.
