AFCON 2023: CAF ran drug test twice in four games on Osimhen – sources
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has selected Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen for random drug tests during the competition.
According to a Platinum Times source, Osimhen was tested against hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon.
“(He was) tested against Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon. That is twice in four games,” the source said.
The Napoli striker was fouled for the penalty that handed Nigeria a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast.
Osimhen then delivered a ‘battering ram’ performance against the Indomitable Lions, who triumphed 2-0 in a last-16 match on Sunday.
He put up Ademola Lookman’s opening goal and was a continuous threat for Cameroon until he was replaced late in the game by Paul Onuachu.
Osimhen’s only goal came in their first match, a 1-1 tie with Equatorial Guinea.
The current CAF Player of the Year is slated to lead the line for the three-time winners against Angola in the quarterfinals this week.
