AFCON 2023: How Ghana can still qualify for round of 16 despite 2 points in 3 matches
Ghana may still qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16, after a 2-2 draw with Mozambique on Monday night.
The Black Stars squandered a two-goal advantage late in the game, dropping important points in their last group game.
The result places them third in Group B, two points behind Cape Verde and Egypt.
However, there is still hope for the West Africans to continue in the tournament.
The top four teams who finish third in the group stage will advance to the elimination phase.
Ghana would need other results to go their way in order to progress.
Chris Houghton’s team will need Cameroon to draw with Gambia in their final Group C game on Tuesday, and Zambia to lose to Morocco in their final Group F encounter on Thursday.
They also need DR Congo to overcome Tanzania in their last Group F match.
