In their AFCON Group B opener on Sunday, the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde defeated the Black Stars of Ghana 3-0 thanks to a goal in stoppage time by Garry Rodrigues.
Jamiro Monteiro’s goal put the Blue Sharks ahead in the first half, which they maintained until halftime.
But in the 56th minute, Alexander Djiku scored an equalizer to give the Ghanaian Black Stars new life.
And just when it appeared that the match would conclude in a draw, Rodrigues came up with a last-minute goal that sent Cape Verde to the top of Group B.
