AFCON 2025: CAF to hold preliminary round draw Tuesday
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set a date for the preliminary round draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to CAF, the draw will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at its offices in Cairo, Egypt.
The event will commence at 2 p.m. local time.
The preliminary round will include the eight teams rated lowest in the most recent FIFA rankings.
The teams are from Somalia, Djibouti, Sao Tome, Chad, Mauritius, South Sudan, Liberia, and Eswatini.
The games will be played at home and away between March 18 and 26, 2024.
The four preliminary round champions will join the 44 exempted teams in the group stage.
The AFCON 2025 finals will include 24 teams, with Morocco hosting the tournament.
